ONE EVENING  you will dine with The Third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, at the elegant Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia.        Welcome to Washington DC!  This evening gather for a welcome reception and introductions hosted by your tour host and scholar Clay S. Jenkinson.                                     Washington DC      

Day 2    MONDAY    Date TBD
       Your odyssey begins with a guided tour by coach of the sites of Washington DC. Stepping off to peruse The Library of Congress gets you close to Thomas Jefferson’s rare, rare book collection.  Over 130 million items, including Jefferson's hand written Declaration of Independence, are found at the Library of Congress.  Enjoy a guided tour of the Jefferson Building, the original LOC, whose core was born from Jefferson's personal library.  Treasures found are still arranged into Francis Bacon and Thomas Jefferson's three faculties of the mind: Memory (History), Reason (Philosophy) and Imagination (Fine Arts). Your tour ends with thought-provoking discussion with scholar Clay S. Jenkinson. Get your palates ready for lunch at Founding Farmers where you will be served fresh "Farm-to-Table American-inspired true food and drink". Enjoy the afternoon to explore several of the many museums located in your nation's capitol.  This evening along the waterfront of the Potomac River brings you to the Agraria restaurant for dinner- another "from our fields to your table" organic, eco-friendly restaurant conceived and lead by the North Dakota Farmers Union.  A perfect setting to learn about another North Dakota inspiration Lewis Clark Fort Mandan.  In sheer Jefferson fashion your first evening will close meeting with fine wine and great discussion.

Day 3    TUESDAY    TBD
       On to Richmond, the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Thomas Jefferson penned the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom here and also designed the Virginia Capitol Building. After lunch brings you to the capitol for a tour.  But first enjoy a visit to Tuckahoe Plantation, young Thomas’ home, and your first narrative by Jefferson scholar Clay S. Jenkinson:
“Th-Jefferson’s Younger Years”.  This evening enjoy dining with the Third President of the United States at the elegant Jefferson Hotel in downtown Richmond.

 Day 4   WEDNESDAY    TBD
        A big day for Jefferson fans as you arrive at Thomas Jefferson’s beloved Monticello. Situated atop the “Little Mountain” where he played as a boy, you will find the heart of Jefferson. Three distinct tours have been prepared for your arrival: “The Gardens and Orchards”, restored to their appearance during Jefferson’s lifetime; “The Plantation Community”, home to a vital community of workers both black and white, and the 5,000 acre plantation; “The House”, Jefferson called his home his “essay in architecture” combining his love of classical architecture with his drive for inventions. Today it is the only United States house honored on the United Nations’ World Heritage List of International Treasures. Next you will visit the home of one of Jefferson’s closest friends, President James Monroe, at Ash Lawn-Highland.  This evening after a fine meal and wine tasting enjoy Clay Jenkinson as he speaks on "Jefferson and Friendship."
